Maria Miller recently met with Solent Academies Trust who have recently started running Dove House School in Oakridge, Basingstoke.
Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke said, “Dove House is a much loved Basingstoke school supporting children with special needs. It has decided to move to be part of Solent Academies Trust, a trust with a strong track record.”
Sharon Burt the trusts chief executive officer confirmed that new modular classroom buildings will be put in place next summer, whilst redesigning the front of the school will be a priority to make sure the drop off zone is safe for pupils. The school are looking for new co-opted Governors to join the school and are particularly eager to receive applications from younger adults to reflect the diverse community that the school serves.
Maria added, “I want all schools in Basingstoke to be good or outstanding and it’s great to have Solent Academies Trust onboard at Dove House to provide the support the school needs, it is vital that staff are equipped with the training and resources to enable them to have the skills for the increasingly complex needs pupils present”.
