Local MP, Maria Miller, visited Basingstoke Hospital to see the SurgiCube operations theatre, and the construction of the new CathLab.
Maria said: “With more pressure than ever following the pandemic, the hospital are doing all they can to expand capacity in the meantime. This includes converting back-room office space into a temporary theatre, the Surgicube, to clear a backlog of short operations such as those for skin and eye conditions.
Due to increased need for heart treatment it is most welcome that the hospital are constructing a brand new catheter lab for emergency and elective cardiac services, transforming the quality of life for many patients. This will address the increased demand in the short term whilst we await the construction of a new hospital in Basingstoke. I understand Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be consulting on keeping this open as a local facility when a new hospital is developed at an alternative location.”
