Local MP, Maria Miller, visited the Basingstoke vaccine hub at Jameson House to mark the 250,000th vaccine dose delivered in Basingstoke.
Maria said: “Today marks a significant day in our fight against the pandemic, here in Basingstoke. 250,000 total jabs delivered since the start of the vaccine programme is an incredible effort and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic NHS staff, who are currently processing 1,000 jabs every day. I would also like to commend the people of Basingstoke for coming forward to play their part and get vaccinated. We are on track to offer Covid boosters to all over 40s by Christmas and all over 18s by the end of January in accordance with Government and JCVI guidance.
It is also great news that a further site, at the Hampshire Court Hotel, will be reopening on a temporary basis this winter to help drive the number of vaccinated people even higher, and ensure that as many people as possible can get a booster jab before Christmas. As ever, I encourage everyone to come forward when they are eligible to get their booster.”
Jameson House operates on a model which uses the national booking service to fill 60% of their slots whilst retaining 40% are booked locally. This enables people to make bookings online or by calling 119, and also offers local GPs the flexibility to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community, who might not book online, can be booked via a local system.
