Chalk Ridge school is a two-form entry primary school in the Brighton Hill area led by headteacher Sue Jackson.
Maria Miller said, “I want all schools in Basingstoke to be ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ and that pupils have the opportunity of a great education at every level of attainment.
“It was great to meet pupils and staff from Chalk Ridge. The pupils asked well informed questions about my work in Parliament, what it was like inside Parliament and how I became an MP.
“When I asked pupils about their main concerns they raised traffic delays due to the roadworks at Brighton Hill roundabout, litter near to local takeaways, and the importance of affordable public transport.
“The children are rightly very proud of where they live, highlighting the views, trees and woodlands in Basingstoke, the friendly people, and neighbours always who say hello”.
The school is very involved with local community charities and will be supporting Julian House, who helps support the homeless in Basingstoke, with fundraising days such as Odd Clothes Day.
