Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, has submitted her response to the latest consultation on the draft Local Plan.
Maria said: “We have to make sure that any new house building goes hand in hand with the necessary invetment in local services. My key concern throughout this process has been whether the scale of new housing is sustainable, in terms of the provision of infrastructure, including roads and transport, local services and envirionmentals issues including water quality.”
“The Borough Council is proposing an “Infrastructure Delivery Strategy” to reflect a co-ordinated approach to infrastructure delivery in South-West Basingstoke. This is an important improvement to the Plan, but it needs to go further, and I am calling for the same co-ordinated approach to infrastructure for all new housing development sites across the whole Borough.”
