Local MP, Maria Miller, met with Nicola Kathryn Pollitt, the UK’s ambassador in Kathmandu, to discuss Nepal-UK relations.
Maria said: “I was delighted to receive an update about the political situation in Nepal ahead of their upcoming elections, and to hear about the development projects that the UK is continuing to run in Nepal.
The ambassador explained that Nepal is continuing to bounce back from the pandemic as it focuses on growing its economy and protecting its wonderful environment.
We have a large Nepalese community here in Basingstoke and I was pleased to hear that Nepal-UK ties remain incredibly strong internationally.’’
Before returning to her duties in Nepal, the ambassador is embarking on a tour of the Nepalese diaspora in the UK to discuss any specific issues that they may currently be experiencing.
