Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke called on the Prime Minister to look at any persistent and systemic racism in government departments during Prime Minister Questions in the House of Commons on Wed 10 June.
Maria said “Many peaceful protests have been held across the country against racism following the appalling events in the US, including in my own constituency yesterday. Can I commend my Right Honourable Friend the Prime Minister for recognising the significance of these events and as well as scrutinising the health impact of c19 on ethnic minority groups, can he look again using the race disparity audit for any persistent and systemic racism in all Government departments from the treatment of BAME people in the judicial system, through to how we teach children about these issues in our education system.”
