Local MP Maria Miller was pleased to help Hatch Warren Junior School open their time capsule sealed in 1991 when the school first opened. Maria joined Head Teacher Ed Dawson, staff and pupils, and former staff and pupils at a special assembly to discover what was inside the box.
The box was found to contain letters, photographs and other documents from 1991, together with two VHS tapes and a floppy disk – much to the amusement of the pupils, who had never seen these before – and had no idea what they were!
Maria said: “I was delighted to be asked to open this “Time Box”, which contained a fascinating insight into the School’s early days, and showed how much of school life remains the same, as well as what has changed.”
“It was wonderful to see how engaged the children were with the excitement of seeing what the “Time Box” contained. I am sure they will enjoy repeating the process for their successors at the School to enjoy in another 25 years’ time.”
