The British Medical Association has announced a four-day strike taking place from 6.59am Tuesday 11 April to 6.59am Saturday 15 April by junior doctors.
Hampshire Hospitals, alongside NHS trusts across the country are working hard to maintain services and will prioritise emergency treatment, critical care, neonatal care, cancer treatment and trauma. Industrial action will have an impact on routine care, but the Hampshire Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust has given assures that appointments will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Maria said, "Regardless of strike action, it is important that patients who need urgent medical care continue to come forward, especially in emergency and life-threatening cases. If you need medical help or advice, or you are unsure about whether to go to hospital, please contact NHS 111 online unless it is a life-threatening emergency when you should call 999.
Industrial action impacts patient care and for the sake of the public and its own members, I hope that the BMA’s Junior Doctor Committee - who are currently demanding a 35% pay rise - can take a constructive position and begin talks with the Government to broker a lasting and sustainable solution on pay disputes."
GP practices continue to operate as usual, so if you have a GP or dental appointment, please attend as planned unless you are explicitly told otherwise.
