Maria said after visiting the new properties, “Tackling homelessness and rough sleeping has been a priority of Basingstoke Council and it is great to see these two properties put to such good use. Providing accommodation to residents in need and enabling them to receive the support they need.
“Two two-bedroom properties that have been refurbished by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council are now providing homes for local people. The two properties are now managed by Julian House, a charity that supports vulnerable and at-risk individuals. These include adults and young people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, adults with learning difficulties and people who need support after leaving prison”.
Maria added, “This initiative led by the council, is the latest in a long list of innovative partnerships working to tackle homelessness in the town and across the borough.
“Julian House will manage the properties based in Viables, Basingstoke and will provide ongoing support to residents helping them identify their skills and aspirations by encouraging them to take part in work experience opportunities, volunteering and training courses at local colleges”.
