Basingstoke College of Technology is one of the main local educational centres that provide a wide range of apprenticeships. Over the last five years BCoT have had 1646 apprentices averaging 329 enrolled each year. With apprenticeships in; Carpentry, Gas, Electrical, Automotive, Engineering, Accountancy, Human Resources, Teaching, Child Care, Adult Care, Business, Team Leading and Management, Hairdressing and Barbering they provide a wide range opportunities for students.
Maria Miller MP said, “It was great to visit BCoT again and get an update from college Principal Anthony Bravo, who revealed that the recent Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair had 30 employers attend and 408 attendees, which was their highest attended apprenticeship fair on record.
“Feedback from both employers and visitors have already complimented BCoT on how well organised and successful the event had been. With five of the future apprentices visiting the event leaving with interviews with employers, whilst many others passed on CV’s to be reviewed by employers”.
Sam Lunn, BCoT’s Head of Apprenticeships & Work based Learning said, “ Apprenticeships are the best way for young people to start building their future careers, not only do they complete the apprenticeship with a recognised qualification, they have experience and have demonstrated commitment and work ethic. Apprentices are ready to work as qualified professionals within their chosen industries. With the Higher Degree Apprenticeships, apprentices can achieve a degree without the financial burden of student loans.”
Maria Miller added, “With 577 current apprentices at the college it is obvious that the role of BCoT as a provider of apprenticeships is an important link between education and local businesses which include AJC Carpentry, Middlesex Aerospace, ENS Ltd, Trident Electrical, PR Motors, and Corner Stones Nursery”.
